South Lanarkshire Council - East Kilbride 75th Anniversary Grant
Summary
East Kilbride was given new town status on 6 May 1947 as part of Scotland’s regeneration effort after World War II. South Lanarkshire Council are preparing to mark the anniversary and have consulted with communities on how they think the landmark should be celebrated.
Following a survey of communities, the Council have identified that people would like to see community led and centred events, and they strongly encourage applications which will deliver these. Suggestions for activities include street parties, walking tours, time capsules, arts projects such as producing posters and banners, and events which recognise the history of the area.
