Details

The Edinburgh Communities Climate Action Network (ECCAN) has the mission to tackle the pressing climate and nature emergencies through grassroots initiatives. ECCAN is Edinburgh’s Climate Hub and aims to foster community-led climate and environmental action in Edinburgh, striving for a just, thriving, and resilient city.

GreenLight is their new seed grant fund to support Edinburgh’s community groups and individuals deliver climate action in the city.

Projects should aim to achieve at least one of the following outcomes:

  1. Mitigate climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and damaging environmental impacts.
  2. Protect, enhance or increase local biodiversity.
  3. Help communities adapt to and build resilience to climate change.
  4. Raise awareness of, and prompt, action on climate.
  5. Communities, organisations and residents work together collaboratively to address the climate emergency

Who can apply

Greenlight will fund local not-for-profit community-led organisations. They can accept applications from individuals on behalf of informal groups. You will need to be a member of ECCAN to apply.

When to apply

  • For grants up to £1,000: The scheme will remain open until funding runs out.
  • For grants above £1,000: Currently closed.

All funding must be spent by March 2025.
