The Architectural Heritage Fund - Loans
Details
The AHF is the UK's only specialist lender for charities and social enterprises working on or operating from historic buildings. They provide tailored investment to organisations working to secure a sustainable future for historic buildings across the UK.
Their loans can be used for various purposes, including:
- Redeveloping a building
- Buying a building (freehold or leasehold)
- Working capital, including cashflow loans
- Improvements to your building, including energy resilience improvements
- Supporting the development of new activities or services.
The AHF typically supports buildings that are listed or located within a conservation area. However, they will consider unlisted buildings outside of conservation areas if the applicant can demonstrate their historic or architectural significance.
The AHF understands that working with historic buildings can be complicated. Their Investment Team will provide full support throughout the application process and beyond.

To apply, you must be a formally constituted and incorporated charity, community business or social enterprise whose members have limited liability.

Complete an Expression of Interest Form available on the Fund website so that they can get in touch to discuss your requirements. They encourage applicants to contact them to discuss their project before applying.
