Details

The Foundation's main grants programme provides support for places. These grants are for capital initiatives, i.e. buildings (new build or refurbishment) and equipment.

They fund a broad range of organisations working across the fields of education, science and medicine, health and disability, places of worship, heritage, and arts and humanities. Each category has its own specific funding criteria, more detail on which can be found on the Foundation's website.

Who can apply

Registered charities. Some categories of funding also allow Local Authorities, schools and universities to apply.

When to apply

Apply now, Round 1 now open.

There are two funding rounds each year:

  • Round 1 - Open from 20 November - 5 January (for decisions in June)
  • Round 2 - Open from 14 May - 1 July (for decisions in December)

If a deadline date falls during a weekend, they will accept applications that arrive by 9am on the following Monday.

How to apply

Online via the Foundation's website. Please see the How to apply section under each specific category on the Funding for Places page. Once you’ve checked that your project is eligible, you can submit a Stage 1 application via the online form.

It usually takes around 5 months between submitting a Stage 1 application and hearing the outcome of a Stage 2 application. If eligible, you will be invited to submit a Stage 2 application, normally around 1 month after the deadline.
