    The Economic Development Grant Scheme aims to stimulate local economic activity by supporting individuals, businesses and organisations to turn ideas into commercial reality.

    Financial assistance is provided to assist applicants with the costs related to developing projects, where these projects meet key eligibility criteria and will result in extensive local benefits.

    • Improved product quality
    • Sustainable use of resources
    • Import substitution
    • New market development
    • Improved productivity
    • Improved service delivery

    Who can apply

    Applicants may be sole-traders, partnerships, limited companies, co-operative groups, community enterprises or other legitimate trading entities. Voluntary and community organisations are eligible to apply to fund development projects which can demonstrate economic benefits to the local community. Such organisations must be Shetland-based with an open constitution or similar set of rules that clearly define the organisation’s aims, objectives and procedures.

    How to apply

    Submit an Enquiry Form on the Council website. The Team will then consider the eligibility of your development project and the suitability of the project for a funding application to the Economic Development grant scheme.
