Inspiring Scotland - Outdoor Community Play Main Grants Fund
Details
This fund supports registered Scottish Charities operating in SIMD 1 and 2 locations to deliver free, child-led outdoor play that improves children’s health and wellbeing.
They're looking for organisations experienced in delivering outdoor play opportunities, who want to help children and families connect with their local outdoor spaces through play, using the Play Ranger model.
The Outdoor Community Play Fund aims to enhance the lives of children, young people, families, and communities by supporting them achieve the following outcomes:
- Children and families in SIMD 1 and 2 areas have better opportunities to participate in high quality outdoor play opportunities.
- Children and families attending OCPF funded sessions have improved physical and mental health and wellbeing as a result of playing outdoors.
- Children, families, and communities value and support outdoor play opportunities in their local outdoor spaces, and its abilities to connect people and place
- Charities/community organisations are stronger, better functioning, and better equipped to manage increasing demand for their services and support.
Projects must be delivered between 1 April 2026 – 31 March 2028.

Who can apply
Applications will only be considered if they meet the following criteria:
- They are a registered Scottish charity.
- The charity applying has experience of providing outdoor community play for children/families
- The charity is delivering in an area SIMD decile 1 or 2
- Play provision will be in an outdoor setting following the Play Rangers model
- Play provision will be free/open access
- The charity applying can demonstrate how children’s/young people’s/families’ voices are taken into account in the development of their outdoor community play opportunity.
Partnership applications are encouraged. The lead partner on the application must be a registered Scottish charity.
