Who can apply

Charities and not-for-profit organisations based in the UK, Isle of Man or Channel Islands that work with children and young people aged 18 or under.

The funder prioritises smaller, local organisations. Organisations with an annual turnover of more than £2 million in the most recent, complete financial year can only apply if they are a Hospice or a Domestic Abuse Refuge, although applications may be considered where the higher income is due to a specific one-off project or fundraising activity.

Applications for over £15,000 per year are only considered from organisations registered with the appropriate regulatory body.

Organisations with a current BBC Children in Need grant can also apply, as long as that funding is due to end within 12 months.

When to apply

The Project Costs stream has no application deadline – you can apply at any time.

They receive a very high number of applications between October and January. If you submit a form during these months, it may take longer to get a decision.

How to apply

Before you submit an Expression of Interest, you must attend a pre-application advice session. Then complete an Expression of Interest form on the Children in Need website. If they would like to support the work, you will then be sent a full application.
