Rewilding Britain - Rewilding Challenge Fund
Details
The Rewilding Challenge Fund is a major new fund for the rewilding project which shows the maximum potential to upscale rewilding on land or at sea. It will fund one project per year.
The Fund is designed to encourage collaborative approaches to rewilding which:
- Work at nature’s scale
- Let nature lead
- Create resilient local economies
- Support people and nature together
- Secure benefits for the longer term
The types of rewilding projects that have been previously funded include a carbon capture project, a seagrass restoration study, a tree seeding experiment, the development of a rewilding strategy, a feasibility study and a community consultation.

Who can apply
To apply, your project must be:
- based in Britain (England, Wales or Scotland)
- part of/eligible to join the Rewilding Network
- at least 1,000ha/10 km² in size (the majority of which is contiguous and proposed for rewilding)
When to apply
The next round of funding will open in 2025.

How to apply
There is a two stage application. Stage One is to submit a short expression of interest. If invited, you will need to complete a full application and give a short presentation.
