Summary

The Blythe Family Trust was originally set up by the late Alexander Millar Blythe, an East Lothian farmer who passed away in 1994 after living for many years at Barberfield, Haddington.

The purposes of the Trust are:

  • to protect and preserve the good health of and promote the welfare of elderly people; to provide improve, maintain or equip facilities or accommodation for the care, medical or mental treatment or occupation of elderly people;
  • to support the Country of east Lothian as the principal centre of interest;
  • and to advance the education if the public in general and the inhabitants of east Lothian.

Grants have been paid over the years to a wide variety of charities and projects, including day centres, food banks and national charities.
