Aberdeenshire Council - Food Growing and Green Spaces Initiative Fund
Details
The aim of the Banff and Buchan Area Food Growing and Green Spaces Initiative Fund is to use the area committee budget to create food growing spaces, address communities' needs and encourage interest and development of these spaces.
The fund can be used for:
- Creating or improving existing food growing spaces at properties such as sheltered housing and schools
- Allowing people access to fresh air, exercise, and social interaction
- Acknowledging benefits to their health and wellbeing
The food growing or green spaces project must be located within the Banff and Buchan area and any food growing project must aim to make sure that food is consumed by community members as close as possible to the point of production, therefore reducing food mileage.
The project groups must aim to make sure that there is a genuine community focus, encouraging and welcoming people of all ages to learn and work together to improve their skills and knowledge of food growing or biodiversity.
Projects must progress with a focus on sustainability nurturing the project for the long term, and taking every opportunity to embrace recycling, composting and related opportunities such as seed and plant exchanges and networks
