D&G Woodlands - South of Scotland Tree Planting Grant Scheme
Details
The purpose of the fund is to encourage the planting of individual or small clumps of trees which add landscape and biodiversity value to the South of Scotland countryside for the benefit of people, communities and wildlife. It is aimed at small tree and woodland planting projects which fall below the size eligible for the Forestry Grant Scheme.
The site should normally be less than 0.25ha in size. Examples of tree planting schemes include: small copses, field boundary trees, tree lines, parkland trees and orchards. The planting will normally be of native species and be appropriate to the locality.
Funding can cover:
- Purchase of plants, tree shelters, stakes and ties
- Protective fencing materials
- Labour costs (for community groups only) including contract labour or applicants own labour
- Site preparation (for community groups only)
- Professional fees (no more than 10% of total cost)

Who can apply
The grant scheme is open to any organisations or individuals who can bring forward a planting project of less than 0.25ha that will enhance the landscape and biodiversity of the Dumfries and Galloway region and contribute to improved public amenity.
When to apply
Applications will be assessed on a first-come-first-served basis. You should hear within 4 weeks whether your application has been successful.
