Cycling Scotland - Access to cycle parking and storage
Details
Good quality cycle parking and storage are essential to support more people to travel by bike. Cycling Scotland works with partners across Scotland, including local authorities, social housing providers, workplaces and schools to provide expertise and funding to increase access to cycle parking and storage.
General principles of installing cycle parking and storage include
- Covered: provides protection from the weather
- Secure: provides protection from theft and vandalism
- Safe: people do not feel vulnerable or at risk when using the facility
- Convenient: is located within the home or building or if it is an external facility it is located at or near the entrance.
- Accessible: can be easily accessed and does not require users to carry or lift bikes, navigate stairs or other obstacles.
- Inclusive: takes into account the differing needs of potential users.
