Beautiful Trouble - Get Up, Rise Up (GURU) Direct Action Fund

Details

The purpose of the Get Up, Rise Up direct action fund is to support activists globally to shift power through strategic nonviolent direct actions to create a more socially and ecologically just, healthy, and equitable world for all. Funded by Africans Rising, ActionAidDK, ClimateActionNetwork-International, and Beautiful Trouble.

This autumn, they will accept all applications to the GURU fund, but will prioritise actions advancing two focus areas:

  • End violence & apartheid in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel.
  • Address Fossil Fuel Industry + Infrastructure!

They are particularly looking to support grassroots mobilizations that disrupt binary framing, use compelling visuals, create many points of entry, consider their audience, have smart action logic, and address meaningful targets.

For the upcoming round of GURU Fund applications, they will select 5 actions. Proposals must meet the GURU Fund requirements. Grants will be awarded up to $1,000. Applications will be reviewed monthly and are due on the 5th of the month of which to be considered. PLEASE NOTE: this is not a traditional non-profit/charity fund, this is for disruptive and creative actions from grassroots organisations. Request for funding must be for either a direct action or direct action tool.
