Crown Estate Scotland - Environment Grants
Details
This programme provides funding to Crown Estate Scotland tenants for projects which can deliver demonstrable environmental benefits within 18 months of award of funds.
Projects must be new initiatives. All projects must demonstrable environmental benefits to the tenanted area (or rights) or the wider Scottish Crown Estate otherwise they will be ineligible.
Typical projects could include:
- Biodiversity projects to restore and regenerate the local environment, for example biodiversity planting and the removal of invasive non-native species, in line with the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy, or similar;
- Providing natural climate solutions e.g. riparian planting and restoring watercourses;
- Facilitating a change to greener ways of operating e.g. measures to support recycling or waste reduction; enabling green travel; activities to reduce flood risk, pollution or carbon emissions; and projects with a circular economy approach.

Who can apply
The grant programme is open to current Crown Estate Scotland tenants, holders of other eligible Crown Estate Scotland agreements (such as leases or licences), and organisations formally authorised to apply on their behalf. Applicants must have a current agreement with Crown Estate Scotland at the time of application and when any grant is awarded. Projects should normally be located on the land, property, seabed, right or other asset covered by the applicant's agreement. Priority will be given to projects which provide wider benefits rather than primarily benefiting private businesses or individuals, e.g. renewables projects which will benefit community organisations.

Applications are invited through funding rounds, each with a single application deadline. Applicants are encouraged to contact the funder's team early to discuss eligibility before applying.
The current round has closed as on 26th October 2026. The next deadline date has not been announced.
