VASLan - Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund
Details
The Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund (CMHWF) for Adults was established in October 2021 and to date, it has distributed grants to community initiatives supporting mental health and wellbeing across Scotland. Local TSIs have their own version of this fund.
The priorities are:
- Tackling priority issues identified within local and national mental health strategies. Including: suicide prevention, social isolation & loneliness and prevention & early intervention approaches.
- Addressing mental health inequalities experienced by individuals and communities disproportionately affected by poor mental health outcomes.
- Providing opportunities for people to connect with others, build trusted relationships and strengthen community resilience.
- Responding to the cost-of-living crisis and supporting interventions that help address child poverty through activities focused on adults.
- Supporting small grassroots organisations and community groups to deliver activities that improve mental health and wellbeing.
The fourth round of funding has a strong focus on prevention and early intervention - it aims to support grassroots community groups in tackling mental health inequalities and addressing priority issues of social isolation and loneliness, suicide prevention and tackling poverty and inequality. There will be a continued emphasis on responding to the ongoing cost of living crisis and supporting those facing socio-economic disadvantage, with a particular focus on supporting the six priority groups identified under the Best Start Bright Futures: Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan.
It can fund:
- equipment, materials and capital costs
- one-off events
- hall and room hire, including appropriate refreshments
