Learning Through Landscapes - Happy By Nature

Details

Learning through Landscapes are excited to partner with WWF on their Happy By Nature programme, which aims to bring a daily dose of nature to every child, starting with those who need it most.

With WWF’s research finding that 70% of primary schools are unable to offer daily nature connection, Happy By Nature is a joyful call to engage in fun outdoor activities, challenge, and adventure. The programme gives children a platform to explore nature in ways that suit them, while building independence, wellbeing and learning.

From 13 October, state primary schools in the UK will have the opportunity to apply for the Happy By Nature Fund. Ten pilot schools will receive a grant of £10,000 each, plus expert guidance from Learning through Landscapes (LtL), empowering them to develop nature-rich school grounds with input from specialist designers.

Further LtL staff training will support pupils to enjoy more nature-based play in their improved spaces — whether that’s in a greener playground, a newly created nature zone, or an enhanced outdoor learning area.

Applications selected to receive the grant must demonstrate:

  • Commitment to complete the project between December 2025 and December 2026
  • A current lack of quality green outdoor space
  • Strong senior leadership support for the project
  • Whole-school commitment to pupil involvement in the project
