The Trust’s charitable purposes are broadly stated, their focus is specifically on assisting other charities operating in Scotland or Canada, specialising in work related to the young (up to the age of 21) and the old (over the age of 65). These ages are given as guidelines are not fixed. Within these criteria they have a particular but not exclusive or predominant interest in hospices and veterans of the armed forces.

When to apply
The Trust meets twice a year in March and October. To be considered during the March meeting applications must be in the hands of the Secretary no later than 15 February. To be considered during the October meeting applications must have been received by 15 September. Late submissions will automatically be held over for consideration at the next meeting.
