Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations

The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations is the membership organisation for Scotland's charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises. Charity registered in Scotland SC003558. Registered office Mansfield Traquair Centre, 15 Mansfield Place, Edinburgh EH3 6BB.


The monetary awards are split into four categories: Cromar, Alastrean, Douneside and Lady MacRobert. Each one has its own specific governance arrangements and internal processes. Check the funder website for full criteria and eligibility. Lady MacRobert awards are currently closed.

Funding is UK-wide although a preference is given to Scotland. Themes supported are: Services and Sea; Education & Training; Children & Youth; Science, Engineering & Technology; Agriculture & Horticulture; Tarland & Local Area.

When to apply

Deadlines depend on the funding programme:

  • Cromar awards are reviewed on a monthly basis.
  • Alastrean awards are reviewed between four and six times per year.
  • Douneside awards are reviewed twice a year in May and November. Upcoming deadlines are 30 June 2024 for the November meeting.
