Details

The Weavers' Company Benevolent Fund supports people in trouble, particularly offenders, ex-offenders and young people involved in the Criminal Justice System. There is a preference for pump-priming new and innovative projects that could serve as a model for similar work elsewhere. Applicants must show they have investigated other sources of funding and made plans for future funding.

Their priorities are:

  • supporting offenders and ex-offenders into work by building skills and capability for sustainable employment
  • helping specific groups within the criminal justice sector that are less popular with other funders
  • supporting young people already involved in the Criminal Justice System to realise their full potential and participate fully in society, rather than general youth development projects

The funder runs a Small Grants Programme and a Main Grants Programme, which have different application processes.

Applicants should first read the funder's guidelines, available on their website, and indicate whether they are applying to the Small Grants Programme or the Main Grants Programme.

The application form can be downloaded from the funder's website. It must be completed, printed, signed and posted to the funder's office together with a simple project budget. Organisations that are not registered charities must also attach their latest audited accounts. Shortlisted applicants may be interviewed, and Main Grants applicants may receive an assessment visit.
