Trust funding general charitable purposes. In recent years the principal grantees have been the University of Edinburgh, Opera North, the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust, the Jasmine Trust, the Leith School of Art, the Royal Forestry Society, Hopefull, Medecins Sans Frontieres, the Society for Horticultural Therapy and the School of Artisan Food.
More generally, although the Trustees reserve the right to make distributions to any charity, they are currently particularly interested in the following fields:
- Scottish charities
- local charities in Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands
- music
- agricultural and silvicultural education
- countryside conservation

Registered charities only.
When to apply
Trustees meet twice a year, usually July and February, though these dates are not fixed.
How to apply
Apply in writing to the Trust. Large amounts of supporting papers are not welcome, nor are telephone applications.
