The Dulverton Trust is an independent grant-making charity supporting organisations which are tackling a range of social issues, protecting the natural world, and preserving heritage crafts.

The Trust currently offers funding across the following categories:

• Youth Opportunities: aims to support charities working with socio-economically disadvantaged children and young people aged up to 25. Funds initiatives that support young people to develop the life skills to enable them to thrive and progress into further opportunities.
• General Welfare: supports work in communities with high levels of poverty, focusing on family relationships, young offenders, young homeless people, active living and independence for older people, welfare of those who care for others and the promotion of social cohesion.
• Conservation: supports charities working to support the health and resilience of the UK’s wildlife habitat, focusing on trees and native woodlands and protecting coastal and marine environments.
• Heritage: supports the development of craftsmanship in the traditional techniques of repair and restoration, with a particular interest in heritage skills training and cathedrals (grants towards capital projects at UK cathedrals with a focus on heritage craft skills).
• Kenya and Uganda: restricted to charities which already have a long association with the Trust
• International Stability and Reconstruction: Applications to this category are invitation only. The focus of the category is the provision of facilities or expertise to organisations engaged in disaster preparedness or peace intervention.

Who can apply

They support charities and CIOs working within their funding categories, and prioritise those that are medium-sized (with income between £200,000 and £3 million), have a national footprint and do not receive a significant proportion of income from government or local authority contracts.

When to apply

They accept applications all year around but Trustees make decisions in February, June and October. They recommend applying at least 3 months in advance of the meeting at which you want your application to be considered.
