Details

Funds projects that enhance and support the lives of children and young people (under the age of 25) who are disadvantaged physically, mentally or socially. Projects must work directly with children and young people and have a positive influence on their lives as a result of the activities or service provided. If a project is for a physical, tangible asset of a permanent nature it must have a minimum predicted life span of five years (preferably ten), be non-transferable and of a permanent nature. If a project is educational, health and wellbeing or disability sports-focused, it must have a key educational, sporting or physical activity element, preferably involving rugby, and a clearly defined project brief.

Who can apply

Organisations with a legal status, for example schools, charities and clubs. Partnership applications are accepted, provided one organisation leads and acts as the primary beneficiary and point of contact. Projects and beneficiaries must be in the UK or Ireland. If an application is approved, a representative of the organisation will be invited to take out one Wooden Spoon membership for a period of 5 years.

How to apply

Applicants should first read the funder's qualifying criteria and check which regions currently have funds available, both of which can be found on the Wooden Spoon website. If the project meets the criteria, the next step is to complete an expression of wish form for an initial assessment by the projects team. Eligible organisations will then be invited to submit a full application.
