The Christmas Challenge is an online match funding campaign that can help your charity to raise more money this Christmas. It offers supporters of participating charities the opportunity to have their donations doubled when the campaign goes live from late November - early December.
Key benefits include: access to funding from Champion organisations; a powerful incentive to donors to have their donations doubled; attracting new supporters; raising your charity profile and joining others to raise awareness of the issue.
The Christmas Challenge 2026 will take place from 1st - 8th December.

Who can apply
- UK-registered charity with a Charity Commission, OSCR or NI Charity Commission number, or tax-exempt status.
- Have an annual income of at least £25,000 (as per last filed accounts with the Charity Commission, OSCR, NI Charity Commission, or Companies House if registered as exempt).
- Charities may be working in the UK or overseas.
- Charities working overseas must comply with the relevant regulator’s guidance on protecting charities from harm. More info is available in support article (opens in a new tab).
- Charities seeking to raise at least £2000 and up to £50,000 in public donations (to be doubled by match funds provided by Big Give’s Champion partners and the charity’s own pledge funders).
- Charities are limited to apply for Champion funds, which are a maximum of 10% of their annual income.

- May 11th: Applications open
- July 15th: Applications close at 5pm
- August 28th: Pledge deadline
- October 7th: Offer deadline
