Museums Galleries Scotland - Museum Development Fund
Summary
The Museum Development Fund is designed to support museums to make strategic steps towards becoming more resilient organisations in line with the aims of the National Strategy. They will fund projects that will help you to strategically develop your core work in line with their grant outcomes. The grant outcomes cover four areas – collections, audiences, workforce and sustainability. All projects must deliver against an outcome for sustainability.
This fund can support a wide range of project activity. They will prioritise applications for projects about;
- Developing digital capacity
- Re-engaging with communities
- Workforce capacity and resilience
- Building resilience
- Responding to the climate emergency

Who can apply
Any organisation that runs an Accredited Museum in Scotland can apply. They will accept applications for partnership work where the majority of the project benefits will be for Accredited museums.
When to apply
There will be two rounds of funding in 2022/23 with deadlines at 5pm on:
- Round 1 - 13 June 2022 (for decisions 27 July 2022)
- Round 2 - 31 October 2022 (for decisions 9 December 2022)
