£4m Covid-19 Museums Recovery & Resilience Fund
Museums Galleries Scotland have announced details of the £4 million Recovery and Resilience Fund which is open from 17 August - 30 October 2020.
The fund comes from the £97 million package of funding to protect Scotland's culture and heritage sectors from the impacts of the pandemic.
The Recovery and Resilience fund will support independent museums right across the country who have been put at risk by the pandemic and protect the vital role that they play in communities. It is intended to prevent museums from running out of funds, as well as developing their resilience by adapting to changed circumstances, supporting their workforce and engaging with their communities. It will fund under the following headings:
- Operating costs up to 31 March 2021
- Re-start costs
- Critical repairs and maintenance
- Business model review and implementation costs
- Activity to support and develop community wellbeing
- Other activity to build up sustainability and resilience
Funds will be awarded by 31 December 2020 and must be spent by 31 March 2021. Museums do not have to have reopened to the public in order to apply to the fund.
