National Lottery Heritage Fund reopening next week

Posted on 13 November 2020 by Christie McAlpine

The National Lottery Heritage Fund is reopening for smaller grant applications!

Having focused their efforts on the coronavirus pandemic for the past eight months including the Heritage Emergency Fund which supported organisations across Scotland and the UK, they are now getting ready for a phased reopening of project funding.

Phase 1

Applications will be accepted from Wednesday 25 November for grants from £3,000 - £10,000 and £10,000 - £100,000. This will provide some much-needed financial assistance, particularly to those heritage sector organisations who have, so far, been unable to access COVID-19 emergency funds. They will be looking for projects with a particular emphasis on organisational resilience and inclusion.

Phase 2

Applications will be accepted starting from 8 February 2021 for grants from £100,000 - £250,000 and £250,000 - £5 million. This will mark a return to core business, but the National Lottery Heritage Fund will not be returning to pre-COVID-19 “business as usual” in its approach.

Priorities going forwards

Through their funding and support going forwards, the Heritage Fund will prioritise projects that:

  • boost the local economy
  • provide job creation and encourage skills development
  • support local health and wellbeing
  • encourage rebuilding community cohesion
  • demonstrate that long-term environmental sustainability and inclusions have been built into plans
