The Weir Charitable Trust Launches Emergency Fund
The Weir Charitable Trust has launched a one-off emergency fund totalling £200,000 to be directed to support the most vulnerable people across Scotland. This is in addition to the normal 6 monthly cycle of awards.
Announcing the fund, Lorraine Tait, Trust Manager, said
‘Everyone at the Trust has been listening to feedback from the groups we are currently funding. We have been impressed by their ability to adapt their service delivery to meet the challenges of the health pandemic. Recognising the impact COVID-19 is having on the most vulnerable people in Scotland, Trustees have therefore made the decision to make additional funds available now. The fund will be shared amongst Scottish-based community groups and charities meeting our criteria that are directly supporting people in their communities through the current health pandemic, particularly over the Winter holiday period’.
The Trust will prioritise one-off awards to support projects addressing loneliness and isolation; mental health support, food and fuel poverty, supporting people with additional support needs, young people and families facing financial uncertainty due to redundancy.
To be considered for the award groups and charities must be in a position to use the funds immediately to provide direct support in their communities.
Applications close at 5pm on Friday 4th December 2020.
