Celebrate Trusteeship. Share Your Story. Enter the Charity Governance Awards

Posted on 3 November 2021 by Christie McAlpine in Awards

The Clothworkers Company Charity Governance Awards are now accepting entries. Good governance should be celebrated and these awards aim to recognise and reward the charities and trustee boards for demonstrating excellence by shining shine a light on the people who make change possible day after day, and showcasing the stories that demonstrate how effective governance can transform lives.

Returning for the seventh year, there is a particular focus on how boards have used the challenges of the pandemic to affect long-term change for their charities, and also how smaller organisations are dealing with improving impact during an unprecedented era of difficulty for charities across the UK.

The goal of the awards is to reward good governance and create opportunities for learning and improvement across the third sector.

The awards are free to enter and are open to all registered charities in the UK, with categories suitable for both large and small organisations. The most outstanding entry in each of the five categories will receive a £5,000 cash prize (as an unrestricted grant) with runners-up receiving £1,000. In addition, all shortlisted charities will receive a one-year membership to the Association of Chairs and the chance to send a new member of their board on the Trustee Leadership Programme from Cause4.

The award cateogries are:

  1. Board Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
  2. Transforming with Digital
  3. COVID-19 Response: Embracing Opportunity and Harnessing Risk for Long-Term Change
  4. Improving Impact in Small Charities
    1. One category for charities with 0-3 paid staff
    2. One category for charities with 4-30 paid staff

Entering the awards is free and easy to do online. Submit your entry before 26 January 2022.

Shortlisted charities are announced in April, and shortlisted charities will receive complimentary invitations to the exclusive awards ceremony at Clothworkers’ Hall (London) on 26 May 2022, where the winners will be announced.
