Vacant & Derelict Land Investment Programme - Expressions of Interest now invited
The Vacant & Derelict Land Investment Programme (VDLIP) is a capital programme scheduled over 2021-26 to help with tackling persistent vacant and derelict land and supporting place-based approaches to delivering regeneration and sustainable inclusive growth, as part of a ‘just transition’ to net-zero by 2045.
- VDLIP is a competitive fund with a two-stage application process
- Applications must be submitted by South Lanarkshire Council
- Awards from this round must be fully committed by March 2024
- Eligible projects are those looking for capital grant, to cover capital costs associated with unblocking long-term vacant and derelict land sites.
- Applicants should provide evidence of how the treated site will be managed and maintained to attract further investment (community or development) to secure and sustain its productive future use.
In anticipation of Round 3 of the VDLIP opening Spring 2022, South Lanarkshire Council are seeking Expressions of Interest for the 2023-24 tranche valued at £10m.
The deadline for Expressions of Interest is 5pm on 11th March 2022.
EOIs should include the following:
- Project outline (max. 150 words)
- Location of derelict site (including postcode)
- Details of Vacant and Derelict Land status including site code. Info can be found here.

- Details of any match funding identified (prospective and secured)
- Details of site ownership
