Smarter Choices, Smarter Places Open Fund

Posted on 12 May 2022 by Christie McAlpine in Funding South Lanarkshire Council

The Smarter Choices, Smarter Places (SCSP) Open Fund aims to encourage people to change their behaviours to walk or cycle as part of their everyday short journeys. Grants are available to encourage people to use buses and community car clubs for longer journeys; walking and cycling for short journeys, and home-working to replace daily commutes.

Grants available are between £5000 and £50,000 and need to be match funded.

Expressions of interest are now open and can be completed on the Paths for All website.

Success Stories

Kirkcaldy-based social enterprise project Greener Kirkcaldy promotes active travel and empowers local people with the necessary skills and knowledge to cycle more for everyday journeys. With over £37,000 from the Smarter Choices, Smarter Places programme, they can now expand their current active travel work to engage with people in neighbourhoods of Kirkcaldy with high levels of deprivation. Activities focus on increasing skills, knowledge and confidence to cycle more. Read more.
