New fund for ethnic minority-led organisations

Posted on 27 February 2023 by Christie McAlpine in Funding

The Ethnic Minority Development Fund (EMDF) is a new fund which has been created in partnership with CEMVO Scotland and the National Lottery Community Fund. The EMDF has been developed to target ethnic minority-led voluntary organisations operating in Scotland.

Applications open on Monday 27th February and close at midnight on Monday 3 April 2023.

Organisations can apply for between £200 - £20,000 to deliver a project which must do one of the following:

  • Bring ethnic minority people together and build strong relationships across communities
  • Help more ethnic minority people to be the best they can be, by supporting them as soon as possible
  • Improve places and spaces that matter to ethnic minority communities

To learn more about the EMDF and access the application form, please visit https://cemvoscotland.org.uk/emdf/

The EMDF is part of a wider programme called the Building Funding Capacity programme (BCF) which seeks to provide an opportunity for ethnic minority voluntary organisations to:

  • Apply for grant funding through the Ethnic Minority Development Fund (EMDF).
  • Access capacity building support available to ethnic minority voluntary organisations in Scotland to build their capacity around funding. Organisations that wish to participate in the capacity building support element of the programme will work closely with a capacity building consultant who will provide free advice, training and support. To learn more about how your organisation can access this support, please visit https://cemvoscotland.org.uk/bfc/
  • Participants of the BCF will also be able to access the Ethnic Minority Knowledge and Learning Network. The network will meet once every 3 months to allow for participant organisations to access a platform to develop their capacity, share knowledge and build on their connections.
