Supporting Scotland’s vibrant voluntary sector

Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations

The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations is the membership organisation for Scotland's charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises. Charity registered in Scotland SC003558. Registered office Mansfield Traquair Centre, 15 Mansfield Place, Edinburgh EH3 6BB.

Details

The Trust funds originate from the winding up the Queensbury House Hospital in Edinburgh which closed in 1996. The Trust's objects are widely drawn but the trustees generally give where the need is shown and the donation would make a significant difference to the charity concerned, have regard to the locality that the hospital was located and take account of historic links.

Applications must:

  • Be targeted at activity benefiting older people particularly in the Old Town, Edinburgh and Lothians area.
  • Be able to demonstrate positive impacts and outcomes for the lives of disadvantaged, disabled and vulnerable older people and/or
  • Be designed to provide a general benefit for a defined community or group of older people in the population (projects that are intergenerational will also be considered provided they can demonstrate clear benefits to the elderly and align with our other purposes).

They prioritise:

  • Newly established groups seeking to tackle the needs of older people where existing resources are scarce or not available.
  • Organisations making new or innovative attempts to support older people with fresh approaches to service provision and contributing to wider social inclusion of vulnerable or excluded groups.
  • Smaller local charities (but will consider larger charities that meet criteria).
