Details

Highland Cross exists to raise money for causes that benefit the people of Highland, disadvantaged by disability, ill health or social need. The Highland Cross is a 50-mile duathlon (20 miles on foot, 30 miles on bike) traversing the spectacular Scottish Highlands coast to coast.

They will fund capital assets that will the benefit of people of Highland for the foreseeable future.

Highland Cross has four or five major beneficiaries each year who are expected to contribute to the successful organisation of the event by contributing £1,000 towards the costs and providing 20 appropriate people to act as marshals.

Applications for smaller amounts of assistance can also be made and, if surplus funds are available from the event, a distribution may be made.

Charities and incorporated organisations, regulated by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator that seek to work for the benefit of the people of Highland who are disadvantaged through medical or social causes.

The deadline is 30 September each year.

How to apply

Applications must be made on the current funding application form, which can be downloaded from the funder's website. Applications made on previous versions of the form will be rejected. The completed form and supporting documents can be submitted by email or by post. All applications are screened for eligibility and then considered by an independent selection panel. Shortlisted applicants for major beneficiary status are invited to interview in Inverness in November or early December. Smaller grant applications are assessed on the basis of the application form, and the panel may request further information.
