The Ashden Awards reward organisations that deliver sustainable energy at the local level, and through this bring social, economic and environmental benefits. Work should be innovative and have the potential to create a significant impact. Initiatives should boost resilience and be as participatory and democratic as possible.
Award categories open to organisations in the UK are:
- Ashden Award for Energy Innovation
- Ashden Award for Skills in Low Carbon Sectors
- Ashden Award for Greening All Work
International award categories are:
- Ashden Award for Energising Refugee Livelihoods
- Ashden Award for Energy Access Skills
- Ashden Award for Energising Agriculture

Who can apply
Businesses, NGOs, government organisations, and social enterprises (both for-profit and not-for-profit, including community groups) are all eligible.
When to apply
Applications for the 2024 awards were open from 14 November 2023 to 25 January 2024.
How to apply
There is a two-stage application process. Submit an expression of interest online via the Ashden Awards website.
