SSE - South Lanarkshire Sustainable Development Fund
Details
The fund supports strategic, investment-ready projects in South Lanarkshire that will bring about transformational change and significant benefit to the community. It was created by SSE Renewables as part of its voluntary community benefit arrangements from the Clyde Extension Wind Farm. Projects must meet one or more of the following outcomes:
- Creating opportunities: create opportunities for education and employment through activities that develop skills and improve people's chances of entering the workplace
- Empowering communities: help communities become more resilient through measures that demonstrate long-term social, environmental or economic improvements
- Sustainable places: stimulate meaningful regeneration to improve or enhance local infrastructure, landscape, biodiversity or heritage
- Net Zero: help the region prepare for a net zero future, for example by enhancing young people's skills for green jobs
For this round the panel will prioritise:
- Young people and work: helping young people enter or remain in good-quality work through accredited skills development, work experience or pathways into growing sectors such as green energy
- Climate action: larger-scale projects that help communities respond to climate change, adapt to its impacts or reduce fuel poverty, such as whole-home retrofit and energy efficiency improvements
Revenue and capital costs can be supported, for single or multi-year projects.
