The Trustees are interested in supporting a diverse range of charities which support older people over the age of 65, from large institutions to small community-run organisations.

Grants are loosely divided into Health and Community categories:

  • Health and welfare: grants for refurbishment of residential care housing for the elderly and for building projects which are nearing completion. Trustees also consider the provision of equipment and furniture to enhance care and improve quality of life.
  • Community and innovation: supports community initiatives which improve the quality of life for the over-65s such as exercise classes and horticultural projects; arts projects such as musical therapy and theatre groups; in addition to specific projects including the creation of memory boxes.

Who can apply

You must fit the below criteria:

  • The charity is based in the UK
  • The charity is registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, or the Regulator for Charities in Northern Ireland
  • The aim of your charity is to help people over the age of 65 (90% of your beneficiaries must be over the age of 65)
  • You are applying for assistance towards a capital project such as refurbishment, furniture or equipment
  • You are applying for assistance towards an innovative project such as fitness classes, lunch clubs, gardening projects, etc.

When to apply

To make an application for the July 2025 meeting, email your application between May 19–23, 2025.

There are four application rounds each year, usually:

  • 1 - 10 March (for meeting in April)
  • 1 - 10 June (for meeting in July)
  • 1 - 10 September (for meeting in October)
  • 1 - 10 December (for meeting in January)

Late applications may be carried over to the following meeting.
