The Trustees are interested in supporting a diverse range of charities which support older people over the age of 65, from large institutions to small community-run organisations.

Grants are loosely divided into Health and Community categories:

• Health and welfare: grants for refurbishment of residential care housing for the elderly and for building projects which are nearing completion. Trustees also consider the provision of equipment and furniture to enhance care and improve quality of life.
• Community and innovation: supports community initiatives which improve the quality of life for the over-65s such as exercise classes and horticultural projects; arts projects such as musical therapy and theatre groups; in addition to specific projects including the creation of memory boxes.

Who can apply

The Foundation award funds to UK charities which have, for at least three years, been registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales / Regulator for Charities in Northern Ireland / Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, and can demonstrate how they are making peoples’ lives better. 90% of your beneficiaries must be over the age of 65.

When to apply

There are four application rounds each year, usually:

• 1 - 10 March (for meeting in April)
• 1 - 10 June (for meeting in July)
• 1 - 10 September (for meeting in October)
• 1 - 10 December (for meeting in January)

Late applications may be carried over to the following meeting.
